SPIN-OFF

POLITECNICO DI MILANO

See beyond the visible.
Understand more.
Act smarter.

3D material perception for intelligent inspection and autonomous systems.

THELIA is developing a new generation of sensing technology that enables machines to understand not only where things are, but also what they are made of and what condition they are in.

OUR MISSION

Give machines a deeper understanding of the physical world.

We bring advanced optical sensing beyond the laboratory, turning the physical properties and condition of materials into actionable intelligence for smarter, more autonomous and scalable decision-making.

OUR VISION

Building the perception layer for Physical AI.

We envision a future where robots and autonomous systems understand not only the geometry of their surroundings, but also what the physical world is made of, how it is changing, and how to interact with it — seamlessly connecting physical reality with digital intelligence.

TECHNOLOGY

A richer way to perceive the physical world.

Most sensing systems provide only a partial view of the physical world. Some describe shape and position, while others reveal information about materials and surface condition.

THELIA brings complementary optical information together within a unified sensing process, creating a multidimensional representation in which spatial and material information are intrinsically connected.

This richer representation enables machines to detect meaningful variations in material condition, understand where they occur in three-dimensional space, and transform complex measurements into information that can support more objective and intelligent inspection.

Beyond shape and position — understanding materials, their condition, and where changes occur in space.
01

See beyond appearance

Detect material variations and early changes that may remain invisible to conventional imaging.

02

Understand where it happens

Connect material information directly to its three-dimensional spatial context.

03

Turn sensing into insight

Transform complex measurements into information that operators and autonomous systems can use.

Applications

Where material perception matters.

THELIA’s sensing approach can support applications across different environments wherever richer material information can complement conventional imaging and geometric data.

Beyond individual applications, THELIA’s perception capabilities can be integrated into robotic and autonomous platforms, bringing richer material awareness directly into automated inspection workflows.

FROM INSPECTION TO PHYSICAL INTELLIGENCE

We start where advanced perception create immediate value.

But our ambition goes further.

01 - INSPECT

Intelligent Inspection

Industrial and infrastructure assets.

Detect and spatially understand material changes and anomalies to support more objective and repeatable inspection.

NOW

02 - INTEGRATE

Autonomous Platforms

Robots, drones and industrial automation.

Bring richer perception into autonomous inspection workflows, enabling automated platforms to capture more meaningful information about the environments they operate in.

NEXT

03 - understand

Physical AI

Material-aware autonomous systems.

Enable machines to understand not only where objects are, but also what they are made of and how their condition is changing.
